Los Jardines Institute

About this Farm

The purpose of Los Jardines Institute (LJI) is to build and support healthy and sustainable communities and workplaces. LJI does this by providing opportunities that promote multigenerational, community-based models of learning, sharing and community building. The Institute prioritizes traditional land-based ways of knowing in the places where we live, work, play, pray, and go to school.Richard Moore and Sofia Martinez, Co-Directors of LJI, have dedicated their lives to social, economic, and environmental justice. Their farm is a wonderful space for volunteers to learn, heal, and understand our relation to mother earth. Volunteers have access to organically grown vegetables. LJI also supports a community garden in Wagon Mound, NM and helps supply a farm-to- table project in the Wagon Mound Public Schools.LJI offers workshops on different topics related to farming, as well as workshops on the edible and medicinal uses of traditional New Mexican wild vegetables and herbs. The Institute welcomes and offers the use of their community space for a variety of community events. Los Jardines Institute is a space where people of all ages and ethnicities can learn, be inspired, and work toward justice together.
