Los Jardines De Moctezuma

About this Farm

Fidel Gonzalez, owner of Los Jardines de Moctezuma, never planned on becoming a farmer, but now he is supporting his family, diving into value-added products to be sold in grocery stores, and working on a starter room for his sunflower microgreens to grow year-round."I was in need, and I didn't see myself farming. I was struggling a little bit-I'm a musician and I didn't want to be on the road anymore. I didn't know anything about it but I just nodded my head and said, 'Yes I can do that.' And now, mira [his eyes pointing towards a hoop house], I got my own business."You can find Fidel farming, eating collard greens & arugula, and playing music. When he's not on the field, he's taking classes to expand his knowledge about music. One thing Fidel appreciates about his farm is that he can see his wife, Raquel, picking produce that she is going to prepare for their son. "I see her harvesting food that I know she will feed our son, and that makes me happy."
