Urban Forestry Education Coordinator

Anticipated start date: ASAP
Hours: 40 hours/ week, for the duration of a four-year grant.
Salary and Benefits: $60,000–$68,000 annually until the end of the grant period (as budgeted over grant years 2–5).
Agri-Cultura Network (ACN) is New Mexico’s largest farming cooperative and is a community-driven model, building New Mexico’s small farming economy through sustainable and regenerative food justice.
The Education Coordinator (EC) will lead the development and implementation of educational programming aligned with the USDA Urban Forestry Grant or “The South Valley Community Forestry Project”. This role is central to engaging diverse community members, schools, and organizational partners in tree stewardship and urban greening initiatives. The EC will design and deliver contextually relevant curriculum, coordinate hands-on workshops, and ensure alignment of outreach efforts with grant goals.
Responsibilities:
Curriculum Development: Design education modules on urban forestry practices, tree planting and care, environmental stewardship, and climate resilience with a focus on local community impact.
Community Engagement: Facilitate workshops, school-based programs, and public education events to promote participation in urban forestry and tree canopy restoration efforts.
Volunteer & Internship Support: Recruit, train, and mentor volunteers and interns, ensuring inclusive participation and skill-building opportunities.
Program Coordination: Plan and manage logistics for educational events, including site preparation, materials, and partner collaboration.
Data Collection & Reporting: Track participation, learning outcomes, and community impacts for grant compliance and reporting.
Collaboration: Work closely with the Project Director, field staff, and community organizations to integrate education efforts into larger project activities.

Requirements and Skills:
Strong background in education, environmental science, urban forestry, or community outreach.
Experience designing and delivering relevant community curriculum and training.

Physical Requirements:
Exposure to severe weather conditions: extreme heat and cold temperatures. May be exposed to sharp and loud tools, machinery, and equipment. It is required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) when necessary.
