La Cosecha and the Agri-Cultura Cooperative Network (ACN) have a unique, complimentary partnership that works together to co-create a food secure New Mexico.
Two Entities - One Vision: A Food Secure NM
La Cosecha
La Cosecha, is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with programs that address healthy food access through culturally grounded community-supported agriculture (CSA) seasonal distribution and nutrition education. La Cosecha’s mission is to ensure equitable access to healthy food, provide nutrition education, and foster growth and investment in community-driven markets. These efforts aim to support the development of a just, sustainable, and regenerative food system in New Mexico.
Agri-Cultura Cooperative Network
Agri-Cultura Network (ACN), is a social enterprise network of over 73 regional farmers and ranchers in 14 rural and urban New Mexico counties that collectively conduct crop planning, aggregation, and distribution to La Cosecha's CSA, as well as institutional and wholesale markets. Agri-Cultura Cooperative Network’s mission is to create a community-driven model that supports and strengthens New Mexico’s small farming economy through sustainable and regenerative food justice.
Working Together for a Food Secure New Mexico
With ACN and La Cosecha working together, locally grown foods become available to schools, early childhood centers, senior centers, and community-driven markets. Children, seniors, low-income and working families receive food that is grown, aggregated, and distributed collectively. This work creates community wealth and supports healthy food choices while honoring New Mexico’s agricultural heritage, which is passed on to new farmers and ranchers through mentorship and training programs that incorporate ancestral and intergenerational farming methods.
This unique partnership enables small-scale farmers and ranchers to collectively partake in New Mexico’s agricultural economy. Member farmers and ranchers participate in seasonal crop planning that enables them to successfully meet the large-scale needs of institutional buyers for fresh and shelf-stable local foods. ACN engages in all aspects of the farm-to-market process, including providing joint aggregation, training, and maintaining liability insurance coverage and certifications for food safety and handling, processing and packaging, tracking orders, managing sales, paying farmers, and making food distributions throughout New Mexico. The partnership further advances access to nutrient-dense foods for children, seniors, and vulnerable community members through La Cosecha’s community-supported agriculture and nutrition education programs, which improve diets by providing fresh, locally grown produce and meats.
